Message from The Vice-Chancellor
Dear Students, Colleagues, Alumni and Friends,
I
am pleased to inform you that the University's Council has, at its
meeting on September 25, 2012, approved the reappointment of Dr Albert
Chau as Dean of Student Affairs for four years from April 1, 2013.
The
decision was made based on due process in accordance with the
University's established policy and procedure, involving the Senate, the
Committee for the Selection of Professional and Administrative Staff,
and the Committee on Student Affairs.
The Dean of Student Affairs
plays an extremely important role in enabling our students to make the
most of their time with the University and in ensuring the HKU
experience is one that our students will cherish for life. Since his
appointment to the Deanship in 2005, Albert has been instrumental in
strengthening the University's support and resources available for
student life on campus, broadening their internship and career
opportunities, and deepening the cultural understanding within an
increasingly internationalised student body.
Please join me in
congratulating Albert on his well-deserved reappointment, and I am sure
we will see even greater accomplishments from him as he continues in his
endeavours to make HKU student life better than ever.
Sincerely,
Professor Lap-Chee Tsui
Vice-Chancellor
